I study violence, punishment, and governance in marginalized communities. My work sits at the intersection of criminology, sociology, and public health, drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, in-depth interviewing, and policy evaluation across cities including Philadelphia, Baltimore, Newark, Boston, and San Francisco. My research focuses on how institutions respond to violence and how those responses shape community life.
